Rare vintage wooden Verge & Foliot clock centerpiece, made in Switzerland by the Bott family - a reproduction of the first mechanical clock of the 13th century in Europe, before the pendulum was invented.
All wooden clock (save a few small pins) and two iron weights hang from twine ropes, which move the inner gears slowly to keep time.
Real Mako shark jaws envelop time, and small weights swing through the serrated teeth by mere centimeters. Shark vertebrae form moon phases, with labradorite and live air plant accents. Framing the work is a beautifully ornate vintage filagree mirror.
The clock was broken when I found it, and it was a long arduous process to restore & repair. This unique labor of love was created for Chet Zar's 'Conjoined' 3D show @Copro Gallery.
